In late July, the World Wildlife Fund with the charity project Run For Life launched a new preservation campaign. The organizers offer everyone to take part in online races, part of the proceeds will be sent to support WWF programs for the preservation of endangered species of animals.

Everyone can take part in the Run for Life WILD - both professional and amateur runner anywhere in Russia. Three distances are affered with a length of 21, 10 and 5 kilometers, and they can be overcome in any convenient place - in the park, on the simulator or in the sports complex. The main thing is to take a screenshot of the result and upload the confirmation to the website. After that you will receive your reward at the post office.

The polar bear is a living symbol of the Arctic, but the number of these animals is rapidly declining. After 30 years, a third of the population will disappear due to pollution of its habitat, poaching and global warming. Since 2010, WWF has launched several projects for the preservation of polar bears, including the Bear Patrol program. It is aimed at preventing conflicts between people and these animals, which, due to the melting of the ice, are increasingly coming to human settlements in search of food.

The Far Eastern stork is considered as an indicator of the ecological well-being of the Amur basin, but even these beautiful birds are dying through man’s fault. In the mid-90s in the Amur region there were no more than a hundred residential nests, but today, thanks to the efforts of WWF, their number reached to 150, and in the whole country approached to 800. More than 40 thousand people took part in the stork preservation project, which increased the number of of birds by one third in 20 years. At the beginning of summer, the Foundation organized online monitoring of the nests, and today anyone can spy on their lives in real time.

The Bukhara deer, which is on medals for 21 km, was on the verge of extinction at the turn of the century - in Central Asia, its population numbered no more than 400 representatives. But the reintroduction process gave amazing results, and today the number of species is almost 3000.

The cost of participation does not depend on the chosen distance - both the bear, the stork, and the deer “cost” 1,100 rubles. 15% of them RFL will send to the WWF Foundation, and so every athlete who will take part in the race will contribute to preserving the biodiversity of the planet and motivate other athletes in the country to join the action. Do not remain indifferent - we can help nature together!

“It's great that now the preservation of endangered species has become a goal for runners of the Run For Life project. Together, we will provide conditions in which beautiful animals will live free and safe,” said Irina Vorobyova, director of the WWF branch in Russia for working with corporate partners.

“Such an experience of cooperation with WWF is debut for us, but we have no doubt that it will find a sincere response in the hearts of athletes and mark the beginning of a long and fruitful collaboration,” hopes Andrey Zhigalin, the Head of RFL.

The charity project Run For Life was organized in 2018 to help kids suffering from brain diseases. Its team organizes online races, each of them gives a chance for a healthy life to the wards of the foundation created by Konstantin Khabensky. For less than a year, the project has transferred to charity organization of nearly half a million rubles, and the dynamics of fees are gaining momentum. Today, besides the Run For Life WILD, the project proposes a Run For Life 2019 race - 1000 km from the beginning to the end of the current year. The RFL team reminds: every kilometer left behind gives hope for life!
