The history of the Amur tiger Uporny, which became a symbol of the struggle for tiger survival

Uporny's tiger story

The Amur tiger, caught on the outskirts of Vyazemsky after the attack on domestic dogs, flatly refused to leave the shipping cell. Hungry, weakened and sick, this dangerous beast still sparkled his eyes and clenched his teeth, trying to keep dignity.

Later, for the categorical unwillingness to contact people, the striped ward was named Uporny. And for the same reason, monitoring him during the entire period of treatment was conducted exclusively through video cameras.

In 2015, the recovered and well-fed beast was released to freedom in the area of the national park "Anyui" - closer to the relatives. The steel character of the animal did not break down in captivity and Uporny, being true to himself, without turning back rushed to freedom ...

For two years the specialists of the WWF Russian branch were following the movements of the tiger, which overcame more than 200 kilometers to the north and settled near the picturesque banks of the river Gur. Having a chance to improve, the predator began to live the life of a wild animal. He never approached people, hunted and, perhaps, even found a pair.

But in early 2017 the signal coming from his electronic collar was interrupted. Only a month later, Uporny was found dead ... The tiger died in battle with another, more powerful animal. He lived for two years, as it is supposed to be a predator, in the wild, and not in a cage.

For the story of the wayward tiger, with a complex character even for its own kind, watched thousands of people. After his death, the World Wildlife Fund presented on the web a comics about the life of this amazing beast. Emotional, exciting and colorful story today finds a response in the hearts of a wide variety of people around the world, which means that the Uporny mission is not over yet.

His story arouses people's desire to help, and specialists have a living example of resolving a conflict situation - ensuring human security and returning to the bosom of nature the rarest predator on the planet.

According to WWF experts, today there are just over half a thousand Amur tigers living in Russia and everyone's life is certainly worth its weight in gold. Uporny's story is unique and revealing, and embodied in the comic book, it is able to break to the target audience through an avalanche of useless information. It talks about the right of these amazing felines to a free life, but, most importantly, that the right interaction of man with the wildlife world can be useful for both sides.

Uporny became a kind of symbol of the struggle of these beautiful animals for survival. Life of the tiger was not too long and very difficult, but he managed to make a huge contribution to the conservation of his relatives population. He was sick, caught, went through a course of rehabilitation, and after - adaptation at nature. But through the signals of the collar honestly told the scientists about the difficult life of the Amur tigers in the extreme conditions of the Siberian forests.

The mortality of these animals is very high even from natural causes and it will be difficult to survive without the help of a human being. Therefore, the assistance of everyone who is not indifferent is truly priceless.
