Today, the hotel business is developing a relatively new niche - "green" construction and the concept of sustainable development. In Europe and America, eco-hotels have become an absolute trend, and Russia is gradually joining this movement. For those who want to make their holiday environmentally friendly, eco-hotels in Russia already have the opportunity to have a comfortable leisure time with minimal impact on nature.
For example, the eco-hotel "Altika" offers real European comfort in the Altai Mountains. The complex was built in 2012 and fully justifies the prefix "eco" in its name. Advanced engineering solutions were used in the construction, thanks to which the hotel has its own boiler house, which does not harm the environment, local treatment facilities and clean water from an artesian well. Restaurant, baths, SPA-complex and opportunities for outdoor activities - a nice bonus for eco-friendly leisure.

On the southern slope of Elbrus, in the village of Terskol, there is another unique hotel, friendly to nature. LeapRus Capsule Hotel is a high-altitude hotel built in the form of futuristic spacecraft capsules. At an altitude of almost 4,000 meters, there are five guest modules - three residential, one for eating and relaxation in front of the panoramic window, and the last one is technical. Inside there is everything for a comfortable stay: beds, bathrooms, meals, wi-fi. A transfer is organized to the hotel. Glamping controls its own impact on the environment - a special system melts snow for sewage, and solar panels provide light and heat.

Among the best eco-hotels in Russia is “The Tract of Aktra” in the village of Artybash (Altai). The hotel is located in a stunning place where the mountain slopes compete with the smooth surface of the Lake Teletskoye's waters. The construction of the complex did not violate the natural landscape, all the buildings are made of natural materials, and its own boiler room runs on environmentally friendly fuel. Arbors and bathhouses immersed in greenery, a fireplace room and panoramic platforms, horseback riding, walking and cycling, the purest mountain air and incredible landscapes make the rest in this place unforgettable.

The Igloo Hotel is located in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, which works only in winter and early spring. Comfortably nestled at the foot of the Vilyuchinsky volcano, it is a scattering of guest houses made of snow - true Eskimo igloo. On-site entertainment includes an outdoor pool with thermal water and a bar. A similar seasonal complex is located in the area of Sochi. Ethno-park “Igloo Hotel” accommodates guests in separate “rooms” - an igloo. The spherical shape of the buildings and the thickness of the walls make it possible to keep the temperature around 0 ° C inside, and the sleeping places are organized on wooden bases covered with skins. On the territory there is a large tent with a kitchen and a recreation area, and nearby there is a deer farm.

In its own way, eco-recreation is understood by the wonderful Seasons Hotel located in the Tver Region. According to UNESCO, this place is the most environmentally friendly in Europe. The complex is a huge log house - one of the largest wooden buildings in Russia. Dining at the hotel is a separate tasty story. Organic farm meat, fresh milk, seasonal fruits and vegetables from the garden are supplied by a local farm.

Alas, today in Russia the prefix "eco" rarely reflects the "greenness" of the hotel complex. Most often, an eco-hotel offers guests just a comfortable rest in the midst of nature. Tennis courts, golf courses, swimming pools and saunas, sun terraces and original architecture attract visitors with atmosphere and luxury, however, it’s usually not necessary to talk about the environmental performance of such establishments in its true meaning.
Nevertheless, the correct understanding gradually comes - the eco-movement is still being introduced into the Russian hotel business. For example, at the beginning of last year, the company Alliance De Luxe began construction of a “green” hotel with houses in the trees and on the water. The Nest Hotel complex will appear on the border of the Moscow and Vladimir regions in the bend of the Kirzhach river. Its impact on nature will be minimal, since on the territory is not planned to lay roads, construction of capital structures and underground utilities. After the launch of this facility, the company will begin construction of similar hotels near St. Petersburg, as well as in Sochi and the Crimea.
