The Electrical Age in Aviation

No one is surprised by electric car today. In some countries, on the contrary, cars on a gasoline engine causes the censure. But if the prospects for the development of land transport have already been outlined, air transportation still remains in the century where the world is ruled by oil.

Norway decided to play by its own rules. In 20 years, this country promises to carry out all air transport by electric aircraft! All developing countries, glancing at each other, are more or less moving towards the green economy. Sorting rubbish, moving away from fossil fuels, preserving and cleaning existing biocomplexes is only a small part of the contribution of European states to the ecology of the planet.

But no matter how the whole Europe puffes up, none of its players have yet managed to reach those heights that Norway has eased up. On December 2017, almost half of the sold cars sold were electric or, as a last resort, hybrid.

The dynamics of lectric vehicles sales in this country is such that the state no longer needs to interfere in this process - it has already been given up by the consciousness of citizens. Now the government determines the course of air transport development. Thus, the state-owned airline Avinor, which operates the majority of the country's air transportation, said in early February 2018 that it sees no obstacles to the full transition of civil aviation to electric-plane services.

The transition to a new type of aircraft is planned to be implemented gradually. The first commercial flight should be launched in 2025, and by 2040 the aircraft on electric motors should completely close all routes inside the country and the nearest Scandinavian capitals. The implementation of the planned plan has already begun - a tender was organized for the  first air vehicles construction, which could lift 15-20 people into the air. While the existing concepts are able to transport up to 4 passengers for short distances without refueling.

Based on the the first flights results, restrictions will be imposed on the operation of old aircraft in order to gradually withdraw them from short flights. According to experts, aircraft with electric traction, without any technical difficulties, can already be in the air for up to half a hour.

So far, Norway has no competitors in the implementation of the planned air program - if everything goes according to schedule, the country will be the first in the world where such a plan will be implemented. And nevertheless, it is not worth lulling, because many companies are slowly developing such concepts today. Airbus, Rolls-Roys, Siemens and others have already announced the presentations of their electric aircraft in about 2030.

Today, Norway is one of "the greenest" countries in the world. It almost completely covers its electricity needs through hydroelectric power stations, which allows it to export oil and gas produced on its own territory.

Here, deforestation is strictly controlled and the rule of "cut down - plant" is strictly observed. And the citizens of Norway have long been accustomed to sorting garbage and handing over equipment for recycling. Here, for several years now operates the Ampere electric-ferry, and by 2025 the government promises to completely stop selling cars on ICE. Therefore, electric aircraft in this country is not a fashionable trend, but a logical continuation of the given course. Course on a healthy environment.
