MiArt, the international exhibition of contemporary art, was held in Milan from 13 to 15 April

MiArt, a large museum or exhibition-sale?

International exhibition MiArt was gathered for 23rd time. It was attended by 184 galleries from 20 countries, it was visited by more than 11 thousand VIP visitors (gallery owners, directors of museums, funds, art consultants) from 25 countries, more than 1,500 journalists were registered.

"I am extremely grateful to our participants, for their efforts in implementing the stands, which our audience liked very much. I would also like to thank the Italian and foreign collectors who showed great energy and interest. Grateful to all those who organized the Milano Art Week. All this allowed us to call Milan the center of world culture", - said Alessandro Rabottini, director of the MiArt exhibition.

Milano Art Week was held from 9 to 15 April. Dozens of events, exhibitions in the best museums of Milan, performances in theaters and art galleries, talk-shows about contemporary art. The model was taken from the largest furniture exhibition Saloni, which just took place in Milan (April 17-22), in the exhibition center of Ro Fier.

But apart from the main event - the exhibition, hundreds of events related to furniture and design were held in the city itself. All these events are united in a single cluster - FuoriSalone (Outside the Salon), which is visited by hundreds of thousands of Milanese and visitors of the city.

At the exhibition MiArt the main task was, of course, to sell the artworks. And it was possible, according to many gallery owners. Although, it should be noted, modern art was sold at quite large prices. I saw a black and white panel "Magnetism" by Ahmed Mater, which they wanted to sell for 40 thousand euros, and "esoteric" watercolors, written as if by the hand of a child, for 12-14 thousand.

Not every Italian can afford such purchases. Fortunately, there were a lot of foreign buyers, they basically bought artworks. For the gallery, home, or, for example, to sell in New York at 40% more expensive, as one of the exhibitors said.

The sponsors also helped through various competitions. Most of all - the Fiera Milano Exhibition Fund through the Giampiero Cantoni Foundation, which allocated 100 thousand euros for the purchase of artworks. As a result, they bought a dozen artworks of different artists from different galleries.

In addition, there were three competitions for 10 thousand euros, and one "to order" - "On Demand by Snaporazverein". It was received by Admire Kamudzengerere (Tyburn Gallery, London) to realize the new work. There were also smaller bonuses, for example, the premium "LCA per Emergent", 4000 euros. It was received by the gallery Sophie Tappeiner (Vienna).

And, of course, numerous visitors came to just look at modern art, like in a huge museum. Probably everyone found something interesting for himself.
