The first round is over!

The first round is over!

The first of the four rounds of the Swiss Super League is behind, and the matches played previously determined the alignment of forces among the clubs in Switzerland. At the top of rating is the Basel, followed by Young Boys, at the end are Thun, Xamax and Lugano.

According to the results of the first round, FC Basel 1893 showed the best readiness for the season, taking first place with a margin of three points. Despite the fact that Albian Ajeti left the team and Wolfswinkel dropped out due to health reasons, two new strikers - Kemal Ademi and Arthur Cabral - did their job perfectly.

FC Basel still have problems in defense, but the opponents have not played this trump card yet. In general, the athletes are in good shape, but still played a draw with their main rival. BSC Young Boys could squeeze to break forward, but it did not work out. Therefore, today the “red-blue” are in the lead in the standings.

The reigning champions, BSC Young Boys, have so far looked less bright. Two championships in a row oblige to keep the level, which significantly puts pressure on the players and the coach. In addition, the compositional change is not the last factor in the club’s performance - the team did not have time to play and therefore did not show its full strength in matches with FC Thun, Servette and Lucerne. However, the players are strong, and have marked increase in their effectiveness. If the “Boys” rally, then they will not let Basel increase the lead, and the next time the opportunity turns up, they may regain leadership.

Closing the top three, according to the results of the first round, the youngest club in the League - FC St. Gallen 1879. Athletes led by Peter Zeidler play ripe beyond their years, despite the fact that their average age is only 23.5 years. Having lost to the Winterthur team in the Swiss Cup, the guys did not give up, learned a lesson from defeat and immediately leveled the game. However, last season the team started no less vigorously, but failed to maintain their position after the injury of Cedric Itten. Now “striker No. 13” is back in the gane and, as before, makes a significant contribution to the overall result of the team!

FC Sion started quite well. The club entered the season with a new coach Stéphane Henchoz and significantly increased the game over the summer, but the transfer company was mixed. Anto Grgić and Seydou Doumbia entered the team, but the contract with Valon Behrami did not live up to expectations. The footballer didn’t really brightly spew three matches. And while he was gone, Sion went up. By chance or not, however, as soon as Behrami returned to game, the team immediately lost. Whatever it was, the club decided to break the contract with the new player.

Not particularly successful, unlike Sion, started FC Zürich - five matches of the season were played without victories, only one draw in the match against Xamax. The Zurich club team probably lacks a leader. In addition, the level of new players does not yet correspond to the level of the Super League. However, now Zürich has won three victories in the last four games. Only the match with today's leader spoiled the picture - 4: 0, in favor of Basel.

A difficult situation has developed at FC Lugano. Having taken bronze last season, the Tichens now have to hold the defense at the same time both at home and in the Europa League. The task is not easy, and athletes cope with it to the limit. The tension makes itself felt - having defeated FC Zürich in the first round, Lugano has not yet found a reserve for such confident victories.

Obviously, the team is capable of more, especially since the team has been strengthened quite well, but the position of the head coach is doubtful. Celestini does not offer new solutions, and therefore the game of the Tichens is not very different from last year, while the level of the main competitors has risen markedly!

Seventeen-time Swiss champion Servette is a newcomer to the League, and that is probably why they are playing modestly so far. Without noticeable difficulties, performing the minimum task, the team scores a little more than one point. For the best result, it looks like lack of the power of attacks and stability in matches with leaders. Perhaps Servette decided not to break into the European Cups this season, having determined their main task to occupy a strong position in the home championship.

FC Luzern is playing quite relaxedly - for the whole championship the Eberly team has only seven goals to the opponents goal. “White-blue” lacks motivation, and in this mood, unfortunately, they demonstrate a mediocre game.

Neuchâtel Xamax FCS, which last season heroically won the right to play in the Premier League, don't have bright victories either. The club still have some problems with the team, and they need fresh creative decisions, but for now they are in ninth place. If the players want to stay in the top division, they will have to make considerable efforts, as competitors will sooner or later emerge from the crisis and inexorably begin to gain points. In the meantime, a team from the city of Neuchatel is in a dangerous butt place ranking

The most unenviable place in the ranking today have FC Thun. In the last five matches they did not win a single victory, which is especially depressing after their worthy game with Spartak in Moscow. Athletes also looked good at the start of the championship, but having flown out of the European competition, it seems, they were taken aback. If this goes on, then the club management will definitely have questions for Schneider, the head coach of the team ...However, he has a big credit of trust, he is smart, and the club’s athletes are able to surprise, which means it can still change. After all, the season has just begun!
